I met Roger in Washington, D.C. when I was a young blonde haired/blue eyed teen-aged country boy. At the time, I thought we would be together forever. After about a month, I called him to tell him that I would be making the 100 mile trip up to the city to see him and it was then that he told me that “it” wasn’t going to happen any more. My naive little heart was broken then and my 63 year-old heart is broken now to learn that he died at 35 years old in Los Angeles. I wish you had moved to the country with me back then Roger. I loved you back then and have carried your memory in my heart all these years.

Roger LeClaire is a name I will never forget… I met him first in 1976 at a naked beach in Malibu when I was walking down the beach with my dad explaining to him about being gay. He was with his boyfriend but he had the most seductive friendly smile that made me stop right there and get his number (lucky me, he is the one who insisted in giving me his number). His boyfriend did not seem to mind (oh the 70’s). But I do remember him as an intelligent, warm, interesting, adventoursly sexy….
