Interview excerpts from MANDATE  April 2006

Mandate: How did you come to Bel Ami?
Johnny Surabaya: One of Bel Ami's model scouts placed an ad in the newspaper looking for photo models and I answered it.
M: Did you know for what kind of photos?
JS: Not at first, but the moment I entered Bel Ami's offices and saw the pictures on the walls I know it must be for gay porno.
M: But you went ahead and made the casting anyway.
JS: Sure. I had no problem to make the solo casting but when they asked me to do more I first said no. Then I met with George Duroy and after we talked I said I'd try it. George said he'd give me work. But then I didn't hear anything. Nobody called me.
M: Is that when you went to work for another company?
JS: I didn't have a contract with Bel Ami and I needed the money, so when another gay company from Prague approached me to work immediately I accepted. I mad a few scenes for very little money which they said were for one movie, but in the end they put the scenes into several different videos. Then they wanted me to do more scenes, but this time without condoms. I found out that many of the other models were prostitutes the company found in bars. And then, like a miracle, I got a call from Bel Ami asking me to work for them so I told the other company not to call me anymore.
M: I see you clip your pubic hair very short. What's up with that?
JS: I think it's sexier to have no hair. When I suck someone who's clipped very short I don't have to worry about getting a pubic hair stuck in my teeth! So I give the same courtesy to my partners.
